#Nowplaying ~ Songs by TKO

It should be no secret that I enjoy listening to all types of music with hiphop being my favorite genre. From time to time people will flood my twitter timeline and email with links asking me to listen to their music but I rarely ever do. It’s not because I don’t think I wouldn’t enjoy it (even though the thought has crossed my mind) but because those people tend to come across as spambots. If you want me to take the time and listen to your music then at least have the decency to chop it up with the kid and please for the love of everything holy do not, I repeat, do not link me to corny materialistic raps. I hate Soulja Boy type music. I’m not hating on the next man but trying to force feed me bullshit links is never going to work. At least when I put my little links up I try to actually comment on the topic at hand, but this isn’t about me or my spamming adventures so let me stop digressing. Recently a commentator by the name of TKO asked me if I could check out the music on his youtube page. I’ve seen his comments on TJR before and he didn’t come off as a spambot when he asked so I decided that I would check the music out. To be honest I had no idea what to expect so I was pleasantly surprised by what I heard.

The first track I clicked on was “Into The Future” and that shit was banging. I loved the sample at the beginning of the song which reminded me of early Kanye West/Dipset type records and I enjoyed the subject matter immensely. Lots of hiphop references from 50 Cent getting shot the fuck up to P. Diddy’s first season of “Making The Band”were incorporated into the song so that kept me intrigued.

Another song that caught my attention was “Chuck Taylors And My NewYork Fitted”. Chuck Taylors are sneakers and are a staple of the west coast so I found it interesting that he would match that up with an east coast staple known as the NewYork fitted hat. As soon as the beat came on I was hooked. That beat makes me want to put on all black (with my Jordans and my Boston fitted) and go out and commit heinous crimes. It’s one of those bang your head till you break your fucking neck type tracks.

“She Got It” and “Never Let You Go” are radio friendly songs for the ladies that do NOT come off as pussified bullshit like some songs I’ve been hearing on the radio lately. I like how the songs stayed G’d up while playing to the ladies needs. I enjoyed both those tracks and the reason for that is because while TKO targets the same demographic with these two songs he does so in completely different ways. In the past I have said that in order for an artist to have longevity in the music industry they would have to have variety and TKO seems to understand this logic.

Just when you are starting to think that maybe TKO loves the ladies a little bit too much and might be guilty of putting the pussy on a pedestal, “Coldblooded” lets the bitches know that he will not put up with the nagging bullshit females are known to give their men.

I’m not too familiar with “Incognito” or “Do What It Means part 2” but I will give them a listen later and maybe have thoughts in the comment section.

TKO proves to be an artist to look out for so checkout his youtube page and stay updated on everything TKO. If you are lazy and don’t feel like clicking the youtube link then I included all of his songs in this post so take a listen and let TKO know what you think.

Jcity is only being nice to Tko so he can have sex with him. Pathetic.

    • May 1, 2011 at 8:19 am

Hate to burst your bubble Stephanie but I am NOT gay and will NEVER have sex with any man. If you fantasize about me doing that kind of stuff then you really have a serious problem. I have no problems with gay people and I feel that everyone should be free to live life the way they see fit as long as they do not impose their lifestyle on me then it’s all good, but to say that I want to have sex with another man because I give them props on the music is absurd. TKO asked for feedback so I gave feedback. I am not the type to want anything in return or anything like that so this wasn’t about that. Dude can never comment again and I would still feel the same way about the music. Is it a crime to show some love (pause)? My blogging adventures would be nothing if it wasn’t for word of mouth and people who believed in someone who went against the grain of this blogging shit. People hate on me yes, but there are those who showed me love (pause) from day one so why is it wrong if I pay it forward every once in a while?

I didn’t realize that being nice to someone means you want to have gay sex with them….

That means Capt. Smooth has been hitting on all of us for almost a year now!!!!!!! Super pause.

All I can say is wow, I never had nobody review my music…even if I get one new listener I owe you. Feedback and acceptance is key to me and I’m no sham. Fuck all the BS music, I grew up on hip hop and its still alive. Anybody who dislikes it speak as well cuz I want to win you over. I uploaded more and even if you listen to one song I at least touched somebody. Jcity, you put me on man…thats wusup

It’s all good. I really liked the music and was impressed. You should put some albums out for download. Try to cake it and shit.

I was really impressed with TKO’s music. He has a witty and vulgar approach to rap that I havent heard in a long minute. It was refreshing especially in comparison to a lot of what i hear in the mainstream. Ill be checking for his next release

If OFWGKTA and Soulja Boy can blow up using the Internet I think TKO can do the same.

Some of those tracks are pretty cool. Did he produce/write everything himself?

    • May 3, 2011 at 8:05 am

That is one thing that caught my attention and I should have put more emphasis on. The production is pretty damn good. The beats are banging. TKO has his own blog setup here: http://tkotheprototype.blogspot.com/ where he mentions that he has been writing music for a while now. Dude has over 600 songs in the stash. Unleash some of them motherfuckers, word, lol.

I wrote all that shit but them beats are from various producers via free downloads, if you like the beats then we have the same taste. im picky with how i want it to sound. i take it very seriously. i’m up for putting albums up for free download as I will not be making money until I get a personal producer. the guideline are these beats are for self promotion only, any traceable profit is illegal unless permission from the producers. Ive emailed a few guys the finished product and got their blessing. one guy said once you get famous you owe me, i said deal although this day and age thats a slim chance but i appreciated the endorsement. ive put the word out to everyone i know so hopefully someone will notice and i can make some bread, the internet is my last shot and jcity is coming with me lol

I know, but the whole bitching about things involving Cena is even more stale than his character to me. About to leave for Thor. I’ll chat later. Good luck on your career!
