Question Of The Day: What’s your opinion on Kevin Nash being back?

When I was a kid, I used to be a huge “Big Daddy Cool” Diesel fan. He started his WWF/E career as Shawn Michaels’ (who I was also a huge fan of) bodyguard, and went on to win and hold the WWF/E for a year. At the time, I had never seen such a dominant champion, so I thought that Diesel was one of the greatest wrestlers ever. Don’t judge me, it was real to me back then dammit. Anyways, when Diesel’s WWF/E run came to an end, he re-debuted in WCW under his government name, Kevin Nash. Nash, along with Scott Hall, went on to change the wrestling landscape as we know it when they co-created the NWO. As a wrestling fan that grew up in the 90’s, the NWO was the greatest thing ever. In his prime, Nash was a true power player in the game and no one can deny his place in professional wrestling history.

Fast forward to 2011. It was a great nostalgic feeling when Kevin Nash, as Diesel, returned to the WWE at the Royal Rumble. He wasn’t in the Rumble match for long, but he got the biggest pop of the night. Soon after, Nash fell off the face of the earth. He returned at Summerslam in controversial fashion by giving CM Punk a Jackknife Powerbomb, thus costing him to lose his WWE Championship to Alberto Del Rio. I was very excited to see what Nash was going to bring to the table, but then he cut a promo.

Nash on the mic was a disaster. He would fumble his lines and stutter like a damn retard and he just seemed to be out of place in todays ever changing wrestling world. I was willing to overlook this though as he was obviously there to help CM Punk develop his new-found face role, but then Triple H got involved and ended up taking his spot against CM Punk. When Nash finally got his chance to wrestle, it proved that he was not physically able to keep up with the current in-ring standards of the WWE. If he wasn’t out squashing Santino in under a minute in order to not expose his deteriorated wrestling ability, he was in the ring throwing the worse looking punches in the history of wrestling. Yes, even worse than Hulk Hogan’s. If I was in the WWE, there is no way in hell that I would trust Nash enough to let him hit me with his Jackknife Powerbomb in fear that he would end up dropping me on my head and end up breaking my fucking neck.

Nash’s return didn’t do much of anything except position John Gingivitis as the main heel authority figure on Monday Night RAW. He was nothing more than enhancement talent used for others to use as a stepping stone. Don’t get me wrong, I fully enjoyed his interactions with Triple H, but I just wished that Nash was capable of having better matches. He can use all the Just For Men hair products he wants, but Nash is now an old geezer and maybe he should just fall the fuck back from the in-ring action, instead of forcing one more run.

His match against Triple H at the TLC PPV is rumored to be his last. Shortly after the match Nash tweeted “Thanks Paul, nice to end it with someone I love.” If he is serious about retiring, then it was great seeing him one last time. I don’t think he should walk away from the business he loves just yet, as he could still be used effectively as an enforcer/bodyguard for one of the younger talents, I just think that Nash’s days as an in-ring competitor are over. I’m also glad that he didn’t politic his way to the top like he did in WCW, but that’s another post for another day.

    Nice post.

I think he should have ended it at the Royal Rumble as Diesel.

I think when he returned he should have been placed as a bodyguard in an alliance with Johnny Ace and Alberto Del Rio, it made a shitload of story line sense.

      • December 23, 2011 at 2:21 pm

        That would of been epic!

Only thing is, I think ADR gets very boring a couple of weeks into a storyline, he seems to say the same thing every week.

          It is his DESTINY!

That’s the thing, it would have gave him something else to talk about and tied up all the loose ends nicely.

            But you already know that.

    • December 23, 2011 at 7:57 pm

What I don’t get is if Diesel got a huge pop at the Rumble, why would they bring him back as a heel Kevin Nash? I would have kept him as a face and worked on the hinted tension between him and Big Show from the Rumble.

      • December 23, 2011 at 7:59 pm

He should have been more of a threat as John Gingivitis enforcer who beatdown anyone not down with the new RAW regime, but of course they dropped the ball on that one.

Off topic, but what do you all think of the idea that Rock might’ve sent Kane after Cena? I seriously doubt it, but if there is anybody who has a dislike for Cena, it would be The Rock.

    • December 23, 2011 at 8:01 pm

Interesting idea, but I doubt it. Rock seems perfectly able to give Cena the ass kicking of a lifetime on his own merit.

But Rock could decide that he’ll be busy and send Kane after Cena to weaken him. Like I said, I doubt it, but it would be a pretty good reveal.

        • December 24, 2011 at 11:52 am

That would be so weird. Maybe Kane is just made Cena is on the box of Fruity Pebbles and he isn’t.

Kane should be on Fire Pebbles.

Ray – Sure. I can’t remember the last time I posted a guest blog. It’s been a while.

Who would do the talking? Ricardo? All three of those guys are boring.

    • December 23, 2011 at 2:34 pm

Most people find Nash boring on the MIC but I find him interesting, he has that tough, takes no shit, old school voice on him.

      • December 23, 2011 at 8:05 pm

Yeah, Nash used to be decent on the mic and I wouldn’t mind him cutting promos if he did them like he used to, but age is clearly taking its toll on him. You could tell the difference from his first promo against CM Punk that was scripted which he kept fucking up and the next promo where they let them use bullet points instead and freestyle. He did much better then. Then again CM Punk can embarrass anyone on the mic.

WWE likes comedy, imagine the bumbling fiasco that they would have been.

      • December 23, 2011 at 5:58 pm

Yea, but if WWE continue the way they are going perhaps it could work. Yes the ratings are down but they mean little these days compared to the AE etc. Now there is YT, DVR’s etc for people to watch them other than live or the scheduled time etc.

        • December 23, 2011 at 8:06 pm

I think Nash would be better suited with like a Cody Rhodes or someone less established. Maybe some under appreciated talent or jobber that is sick of his current career path.

I remember this dude, ahaha! He be so old now, omggg!!

    • December 23, 2011 at 8:08 pm

They should have let him keep his grey hair and have him say “I’m too old for this shit” and walk out never to be seen again.
