Epic Failure Of The Year (Male): Matt Hardy

I used to be a huge Matt Hardy fan. When he left the WWE in order to join his brother in Impact Wrestling I thought that he was going to seize the opportunity and reinvent himself. I wanted him to win and believed that he would quickly climb the ladder of success in the Florida based wrestling organization when nobody else believed in him. Matt Hardy reinvented himself alright, but it was the complete opposite of what his fans wanted to see. Matt went “Cold Blooded”, which must have been secret Hardy code for “Drugs Are Life” because for most of 2011, I was wondering if Matt Hardy was still a Professional Wrestler or the World’s Stupidest Crackhead. After seeing his younger brother battle his demons, you would have thought that Matt would have led by example and tried his best to help his brother get his shit together, but that wasn’t the case here. Matt wanted to one up Jeff, so he publicly started dabbling in the world of illicit drugs, alcohol consumption and pharmaceutical narcotics. What followed next was a car crash, numerous arrests, unemployment, a fake suicide attempt, rehab, getting kicked out of rehab and more motherfucking rehab.

In 2011, Matt Hardy has become a drug addicted shell of his former self. A self that had all the potential in the world to be a very decent Impact Wrestling World Champion. Now the only potential Matt has is to get clean and start over or overdose and die. I swear I’m living in the Twilight Zone because it’s weird as fuck that Jeff Hardy now has his shit together and is trying to do right by his family and Matt is the one trying his damn hardest to become the new Scott Hall. The only good thing that has come out of this situation is The True Story Of What Matt Hardy Did The Day He Got Fired From TNA and Matt Hardy’s Unauthorized Suicide Letter. Any hope that I had when it came to Matt getting clean is now gone. He says he is working on himself, but he has fucked up so many times that I no longer believe in him. He’s just going to leave rehab and do the same shit all over again. I’ve seen this happen too many times. I know people in Matt’s situation and I’ve seen how such a lifestyle can kill a person from within. I personally think that when it comes to his addictions, Matt is in too deep and he will not learn until it’s too late. Jeff might as well start shopping for a headstone because this story is only going to end one way…

Pulling for him to get through this.

I used to pull for him, but he’s disappointed me one too many times. Now instead of feeling bad I just point and laugh.

Crack, heroin, pills, alcohol, crystal meth… That’s why weed is THE drug of choice 🙂

We need more Matt Hardy columns. That suicide letter was brilliant.
