Free Mixtape Download: TKO Presents ~ Prototype 101

[Editor’s Note: I’ve been hella busy lately playing Mass Effect 2 and 3 so I haven’t really given this album a proper listen, but the tracks I did hear are fucking awesome. This is the Mixtape follow-up to TKO’s album, Prototype V and if you liked that album, you’re going to fucking love this Mixtape. With that being said, if I waited long enough to write a review on this, this FREE Download wouldn’t be posted for like another week or two, so instead of keeping people waiting, I thought who better to sell you on this Mixtape than the artist himself, TKO. Don’t sleep on this shit. The Prototype series goes harder than a motherfucker.]

It’s finally done.

FREE Prototype 101 Download

After months of writing, cycling through beats, recording and trying to decide what’s the best fit, Prototype 101 is done. I’m satisfied with my delivery and content more than ever. I think my wordplay in general has improved and I seriously think I’m as good as I say I am. After over 700 songs I think I deserve to show a little confidence (not swag.) 16 songs deep, Prototype 101 is less story driven and there aren’t a lot of topics, just a Mixtape joint free of too much emotion. I think saying whatever I want is fun and funny. Don’t take any violence or sexually ridiculous claims too seriously, I’m just doing my best to be as lyrically insane as possible, but at the same time you get a lot of what’s on my mind. I free-write. Freestyling on paper. I know a lot of artists who write a little here and there, rewrite, edit, ect. I write the entire song in one sitting, not trying too hard to make a classic. It’s all captured at that moment in time. I hope you enjoy the low-budget free product and provide some feedback.

Track Description

1. Old Boy

I wanted to start out with some serious talk for any new listener. Providing some background to my artistic journey, I speed up the flow a bit, but allow the listener to understand the point. I’m 31 as of this writing. Still young, but I’m an old hiphop fan. I prefer a grittier sound than even I use. I think I make my point on this joint.

2. Hustlemania

This song is the exact opposite, but for good reason. Range. Another song where I experiment with the ability to rap a little faster. This song is more commercial sounding to cater to different types of fans. I can also do what they do (mainstream artists), but in many ways I can do it better, no?

3. What Can I Do

Here the hook is supplied via sample and I just fill in the blanks. I often talk about the music industry and what I should have done and what I can’t or don’t want to do to be a part of it. This song is all about what I could do to become successful, but it’s not in my plans, realistically.

4. Space Food

This is probably my favorite song of mine. I switch my style from slow to fast several times and I’m lyrically all over the place, really out there. The beat is a masterpiece of sounds and it was a late addition. I had the beat, never did anything with it and one day I said wait… wrote the song in 30 minutes and recorded it right away.

5. Beautiful

Ok. Don’t judge me. Sometimes I hear a melody and I instantly know what I want to say. This isn’t my typical type of music, but I enjoyed trying something new. I’ve sung before, but I think this is my best attempt. I kept it short because I didn’t want to lose my core fanbase and shit. I like what I accomplished though. I respect women.

6. Keep It Movin

I love the music here. I instantly wrote the verses and the hook just felt right. I have unlimited things to say about certain hiphop. There’s nothing wrong with hiphop right now, but there are some suspect artists out there and I stand by my comments.

7. Dark Days

Now this is more my speed. Very hardcore and slightly comical. I love saying outlandish shit over a great backdrop. There’s not much of a point. Just some break your neck hiphop.

8. I Gets Biz

This song sounds typical to a lot of southern hiphop artists. The high hats, snares, kick drum pattern. Only difference is that I’M on it and I think I created something very dope. I had fun with the punchlines and it’s very ridiculous.

9. I Know What You Said About Me

This song is based on a former friend. He didn’t say too much about me behind my back, but the idea made for a hot song. Again, I think I did well with the pace and kept up better than I thought I could. I’m still growing artistically and blending words together like this is a challenge and I passed.

10. Nice Guy
Another southern street sounding song where I get away with saying some of the most offensive things I could in a 30 minute window. I wrote this fast and I’m sure it’s not for everyone. If you don’t mind bad words, explicit content and tough talk then you might like this. Not to be taken seriously, have fun with it.

11. You Can Get It

I admit to filler. Some songs that end up as filler to me are gold to others. This was just some quick shit talking over another creepy back drop. Nothing serious, most Mixtapes have filler and it’s a throw away track, but I stand by this short little joint.

12. Bullshit

Another song aimed at a past friend who ran his mouth, but only loosely. It’s more shit talking, getting my point across. This is the type of beat and pace I can write a million songs to. Delivered it in one take and I like the overall end result.

13. Caesar

I’ve always admired the idea of Caesar. A king. I go by TKO (True King of Omaha) and I stand by it. Nobody does it exactly how I do it and I’m a king in my own space. This song doesn’t represent it. Another beat I liked and I free wrote some shit to it. Remember, this entire Mixtape is a finished rough draft.

14. I Wish

This song is a run-on sentence about life, music, the future, death, ect. I love the Gladiator score sample and it is one of my personal favorites. The delivery is some of my best and it was easy to write because it came naturally.

15. GMF (Get Money Fast)

I write a lot of joints like this. I don’t consider this one filler. It’s more like an achievement in wordplay. Very comfortable tempo and backdrop. Real New York sound. I try hard to be funny. I’m no comedian, but I took some lines from Michael Pena and the movie 30 Minutes or Less in verse 3. Just some ridiculous lines, fun joint.

16. Royal Rumble

This was easy to do. Taking a page out of the WWE, I did my own Royal Rumble and took 29 rappers and threw them in, in some way. Some got more time than others. I respect the majority, so I didn’t get too deep into it. Just a fun joint for my blog friends over at theinfamousjcity.com.

There you have it. Hope you enjoy, download and tell a friend. Please note that I have no interest in the music industry, but I do enjoy all the feedback and responses I get, so let me know what you think of Prototype 101. Peace.

Thats the idea. The Prototype, Prototype 2, Prototype 3, P4 Advance Prototype, Prototype V and Prototype 101 are like my tribute to Terminator and the my gradual improvement musically (T2 is in my top 5 movies ever)

Not a lot of comments. Lots of downloads. Good lookin out jcity and to anyone (if any) who downloaded from reading this. Not even a troll comment lol. My boi j digs the product. That’s enough for me

    • March 15, 2012 at 4:38 am

You should send these download links to some labels, just to see what would happen. Even an independent label around your way or something. I’ve been listening to hiphop for a long ass time and I know hits when I hear them and you always seem to have more than enough bangers on your albums when most artist only have one or two per album. There’s no doubt in my mind that you can get at least some college radio spins (to start) and maybe get booked for shows as a result.

Way better than John Cena’s rap on Raw.

    • March 15, 2012 at 4:42 am

Cena wants to take a shit on The Rock’s chest and put his nuts in his face. Wrestling keeps getting gayer by the minute…

        March 15, 2012 at 5:52 am

He’s just saying to Rock that he can make Rock his bitch any time he wants to.

          That’s gay.

C’mon man, these songs have to take more than just half a hour to write. Don’t get me wrong yo they are good homie, but I would love to see what you can do if you really tried to step it up and gave yourself a hour or two to write, rewrite, edit and all that shit.

    • March 15, 2012 at 4:46 am

That would be dope, but his way obviously works well. My only suggestion would be an album with absolutely no filler. A straight up undeniable 5 star classic. He always comes close though so I can’t complain. My favorite type of songs from TKO are usually the ones that are personal, question the music industry, deal with pain, hurt, or any other raw emotion and the storytelling tracks. The shit talking is cool too, but the more serious the subject matter the better the song comes out IMO.

I gain nothing in lying about writing songs so quickly. I was writing a song last friday with the fellas and I was done with my verse fast. They were like damn and I wasn’t trying to be impressive. The beat and the topic just jelled. I’ve been crafting this style since I was 16 and I continue to push myself. It’s all about the beat. Sometimes I get too excited to see what I can do to a beat so I write it, recite it a few times and run downstairs and record it. Add whatever little touches and thats it. I go back and listen and I see gaps and ways I could have done better. Theres a lack of punchlines sometimes because its all very freestyle-ish. I don’t get paid to do this so the effort doesn’t need to be there but hundreds of downloads, page views and bangin feedback tell me that I’m not wack. I try to take time with some songs. I wrote an entire “album” with no bad words once and it took a long time. Hated it. It’s amazing to speak your mind over a beat and have this Jcity kid put it on his site without me asking and to get support or people liking it. Even if its one person, its important. This is a wrestling site at its core and Im very much a fan but as long as you don’t mind listening and providing feedback/improvement criticism, I’ll keep doing it cuz its fun

TKO? More like T-K-NO. J, can you please stop plastering this nigger on the site? He sucks and blows at the same time.

If you don’t like it, fuck off. End of story.

You can come better than that. What sucks? What song in particular? How do I improve to transform you from a Nameless Cunt/Troll to someone who actually likes niggers that make music? Leave your real name and address and I’ll come make you like my shit
